The Cape Biotech Trust was born in 2002, from the Cape Biotech Initiative, which had been established by the biotechnology stakeholders of the Western Cape, as a forum to facilitate communication between researchers, industry and government.
Cape Biotech represents the Biotechnology Regional Innovation Centre (BRIC) for the Western Cape and is one of the four centers established around the country to implement the national biotechnology strategy. Co-operation and collaboration between these centers ensures national cohesiveness and development.
